Dubai Internet City Dubai Internet City, instituted in October, 1999 by General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown prince of Dubai and U.A.E. Minister of Defense is first of its kind in the world enabling e-business enterprises to operate globally out of Dubai. According to Sheikh Mohammed the Internet city is a multi-faceted concept and not just aimed at only e-commerce companies. It will encompass such areas as e-finance, e-marketing, e-design and multimedia. It is proposed to be located opposite Emirates Golf CLub and will offer companies 100% foreign ownership, tax exemptions and for corporate and personal incomes and renewable land leases for 50 years and single window for all government clearances. According to reliable sources some of the big players listed in Nasdaq Exchange have expressed their interest in the project and more and more global enquiries are coming in. With the involvement of multi-faceted entities engaged in e-business, software, multimedia development, telecom and other IT related comoanies, the city is expected to take Dubai, to a winning position in the Internet World. Companies can look to forward the best software manpower from the region especially from India which will be cost-effective. The government will provide and environment for development with the state-of-the-art network and connectivity. An Internet University will also be set up with an International faculty which will offer quality training courses.
